This course uses clinical case studies to assist the future doctors of Chiropractic develop skills in differential diagnosis with bases in problem solving. The case presentation begins with the patient's complaints and the student would work through systematic steps, making use of basic principles, to arrive at the differential diagnosis / definitive diagnosis. This is achieved by dialogue between the instructor and the students. The course is not a one-way stream of information from the instructor to student. The students are required to participate in analyzing cases presented to them. It is important for the students to understand that, in this course, they are regarded as doctors of Chiropractic in their offices dealing with cases presented to them by their patients [active involvement], and NOT students in a classroom listening to a lecture.  Participation may involve asking students questions to evaluate their method of analysis of patient's data. It is necessary for the students to review and be familiar with the clinical conditions listed in the "Pool for DDx & Case Studies" and in the Course Outline.

The prerequisite for DDx & Case Studies Course includes Advanced Diagnosis, Physical Diagnosis, Lab Diagnosis, Clinical Neurology, Bone Pathology, Radiology, PT, Various Chiropractic Techniques and all the Basic Sciences. There are no new materials. The course teaches the students how to apply and integrate information acquired from the previous courses. The presented cases represent a cross section of commonly encountered conditions. At the completion of the course, each student is required to write up a comprehensive evaluation and management of 10 of the case studies presented to them to fulfill the CCE requirement for comprehensive evaluation and management of case studies.
