Course Purpose:
 
This course is structured as a preparatory course for entry into, and use of, the student and outpatient healthcare facilities of Parker.  This course presents information on the procedures, policies, rules and regulations of the Health Care Centers of Parker.  The course presents information on developing professional, as well as appropriate, doctor/patient relationships.  Additionally, the course will present an overview of the SOAP note format with emphasis on the subjective section of the SOAP Notes.  This course also introduces the chiropractic professional code of ethics as it deals with patients, businesses, and inter- and intra-professional relationships.  The computer portion of this course is designed to prepare chiropractic students to function competently in a digital environment. Using hands-on activities, participants will become familiar with the varied and active role computers play in the chiropractic education and profession.
 
Course Objective:
 
This course will:
  • outline the operational guidelines of the Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinics.
  • explain the operations and regulations of the Outpatient Clinic system of Parker.
  • define the role of the Parker intern.
  • outline the "Staff Doctor's Practice" system of case management.
  • demonstrate a developing professional attitude that can lead to in success in the clinic and private practice.
  • name and practice ethical and effective methods of patient recruitment/marketing.
  • explain the ethical issues related to the Clinic experience.
  • outline the basics of the SOAP format of patient file documentation used in the Parker clinics.
  • instruct students on the communication skills needed to recruit patients based on the science and philosophy of chiropractic.
  • encourage students to dedicate their professional endeavors to the health of their patients
  • prepare students to practice chiropractic by providing them with a working knowledge of the ethics concerning the practice of chiropractic, the practical application of those ethical requirements, and the consequences of violating those ethics.
