Fundamentals of Diagnostic Imaging is an introductory course in diagnostic imaging.  The focus of the course is on plain film radiography; however, advanced imaging modalities including MR, CT and nuclear imaging are also covered.  Topics covered include x-ray tube anatomy, x-ray production, interactions between x-rays and matter, film/screen effects, film processing, radiobiology and radiation protection.  Advanced imaging discussions included an introduction to the physics of MR, CT and nuclear imaging.  Indications for use of imaging modalities and an introduction to interpretation will also be briefly discussed.  These topics are further discussed in courses later in the curriculum.
